: All samples were obtained from healthy or naturally infected animals in the field by qualified veterinarians as a part of normal veterinary care and diagnostic testing procedures. Therefore, no aggressive operation was conducted against pigs for sampling purpose and no pigs or other animals were sacrificed for the purposes of this study. The University of Miyazaki DNA recombinant Committee approved the protocol for our cloning experiments of PEDV (protocol number 2017–541).
