Ethics approval and consent to participate
: In all cases the principles established by the European Commission legislation (Directive 63/2010/EU) and Spanish national transposition (Royal Decree 53/2013) on protection of animals used for scientific purposes and 3Rs principles were followed. Sheep are the natural hosts for <i>Haemonchus contortus</i> and no alternative laboratory host exists. The experimental design and procedures were approved by the Ethical Committee of Animal Experimentation from the UCM (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and officially authorized by the Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid (PROEX 75/14).
