Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was conducted in accordance with the German Animal Welfare Act (Article 8). According to the general decision of the ethics committee (Regierungspräsidium Giessen, Dezernat 54, Wetzlar, Germany, ethics committee number: GI 17/18), an individual ethics approval of the study was not necessary as only a retrospective data analysis was performed and the study did not require taking an additional amount of blood. The owners of the dogs gave written consent that the patient data are documented for further use by the employees of the JLU.
