All the milk samplings were performed during the mastitis monitoring program regularly practiced by the local veterinary practitioner; for this reason, such approval by institutional ethics committee was not necessary. Nevertheless all the clinical actions performed during the study abide by the common good clinical practices [], moreover the farmer involved was previously informed and in agreement about purposes and methods of the present investigation and a verbal approval have been received.
