Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study comprised only behavioural observations of privately owned commercial pigs and the treatment aimed to improve animal welfare. Due to the low severity of the treatment of the animals (increased straw ration) and usage of privately owned animals this experiment did not require approval by an ethical committee for animal experiments due to Swedish National legislation [CitationRef removed]. All participation was voluntary and accepted through verbal consent and withdrawal from the experiment could be done at any point in time if the farmer wanted to according to SJVFS 2019:9 2 Chapt. 17 §.
