: Mink were managed according to the industry standards (). Samplings were performed according to the standards of the Canadian Council for Animal Care () after approval by the institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (File # 2013–079, Ms. Laurel MacIntosh, Secretary of the Council). Prior to inoculation or blood sampling, animals were anesthetized by intramuscular injection of ketamine hydrochloride and xylazine hydrochloride at the rates of 10 mg and 2 mg per kg live weight, respectively. Euthanasia was performed in mink under anesthesia by intracardiac injection of sodium pentobarbital at the rate of 100 mg per kg body weight.
