Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This is a retrospective study. The study design was conceived and medical records of cats were assessed long after they were discharge from the hospital, or died. Regarding access to medical records, permission was granted by the hospital Director. This work involved the use of non-experimental animals only, and followed established internationally recognised high standards (‘best practice’) of individual veterinary clinical patient care. Ethical approval from a committee was not necessary. Informed consent (either verbal or written) was obtained from the owner or legal custodian of all animals described in this ork for the procedures undertaken.
