Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Written informed consent was obtained from the owners of all evaluated dogs before inclusion in the study. All animals were included in the study in accordance with bioethics concepts applied to animal research. Animals were not euthanized, at the completion of their participation in the study the dogs were released to their owners. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (CEUA/UFRGS) under protocol #26102 and was conducted in accordance with current laws in Brazil.
