: The information recorded in this study has been provided by Consejería de Medio Ambiente (CMA) de la Junta de Andalucía, the Spanish Environmental Ministry (MITECO), and Instituto da Conservaçao da Natureza e das Florestas (ICNF). The procedures were licensed by the corresponding local Competent Authority to comply with Spanish legislation on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. The Iberian lynx ex situ handling procedures and sampling frequency were designed to reduce stress and minimize the impact on the health of the subjects, as per European (2010/63/UE) and Spanish (R.D 53/2013) standards. All the data used for the research was collected by the resident veterinary at Iberian lynx Breeding centers during regular health revisions of captive animals or by veterinary staff at Centro de Análisis y Diagnóstico de la Fauna Silvestre-C.A.D. in the course of necropsies of dead animals.
