: The study did not require the approval of an ethical committee since no direct intervention was done on animals. All plasma samples used were surplus material from the diagnostic tests during routine examination with no unnecessary invasive procedures, including parasitological confirmation of leishmaniasis. Oral informed consent was obtained from the owners of dogs at the time of clinical examination. After the examination, all dogs were returned to their owners.
