: This study did not include animal sampling. Only medicated feed and medicated drinking water was collected for analysis. Therefore, no ethics approval for research involving animals was required. On the other hand, a consent to participate was asked to pig farmers. The farmers were asked to sign a form of consent to participate in the study and fill questionnaires concerning group treatment with medicated feed and drinking water. According to the Ethical Committee of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering of Ghent University, no ethics approval was needed for the questionnaires since the research was not ethically sensitive, was conducted in a non-medical context and none of the following descriptions were applicable:- Research with vulnerable persons, minors or persons unable to give (informed) consent are involved in the study.- Sensitive (personal) data is collected in the study.- The research design requires deception of the participants or there is hidden research.- The research may have negative consequences for the participants (e.g. pain or discomfort, (im)material damage).- In the investigation, the nature of the personal data or their processing involves a high level of risk for the participants.- The research entails potential risks for the participants or the researchers (e.g. research in specific contexts or regions such as conflict areas or non-democratic regimes).- During the investigation, unintended information may be collected (e.g. information about domestic violence, criminal activities, health risks).
