: All experiments were approved by the Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee of Vienna University of Veterinary medicine (BMWFW-68.205/0051-WF/V/3b/2016). All experiments were executed in agreement with relevant guidelines and regulations to minimize suffering of the fish. The current study was performed at the experimental facility of Department for Farm Animals and Veterinary Public Health, Clinical Division of Fish Medicine, University of Veterinary Medicine, Austria. Procedures for animal care and management were conducted according to the guidelines of the European institutional ethics and animal welfare after the approval from the Ministry of Science, Austria according to § 26ff of the Austrian laws for care and use of experimental animals (BMWFW, GZ: 2020 − 0.001.578). The study was carried out in compliance with the ARRIVE guidelines.
