The study was independently reviewed and approved by the Regional Veterinary Council (Animal Experimentation/Ethics Committee, acc. § 15 EU/German Animal Welfare Law) of the Free State of Saxony, Leipzig/Chemnitz, SN, Germany (TVA# 23/18). Written informed consent was obtained from the owners of all dogs that were prospectively enrolled into the study. For surplus specimens and medical records data of dogs that were retrospectively included in the study, written owner informed consent for the use of surplus samples and patient data had been obtained on the small animal clinic’s patient admission form at the time of the diagnostic evaluation.
