: (a) The study did not fall within the application areas of Italian Legislative Decree 26/2014 which governs the protection of animals used for scientific or educational purposes; therefore, ethical approval was waived for this study. Dogs were treated according to the current standards. (b) With prior owners’ informed consent, tumor samples were collected from dogs undergoing surgery at the University Veterinary Hospital of the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences University of Bologna and the Veterinary Clinic “Pet Care” in Bologna.
