: The study protocol was approved by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Institutional Ethical Review Committee (IREC), reference IREC2020-07. All laboratory work involving manipulation of the RVFV from samples of animal origin were carried out in Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) facilities at ILRI Kenya and Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) Kenya. Approval was obtained from the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) of ILRI – Kenya reference IBC-RC2021-009-1. IBC of ILRI is registered by the National Biosafety Authority (NBA) of Kenya.
