: Material obtained in the experiment (canine tissue and blood samples) were collected during a routine ovariohysterectomy (OVH) with standard veterinary protocols and made at the request of the owners. All owners provided written informed consent for the ovariohysterectomy procedure and biological sampling of the animals included in this study. All animal handling protocols and methods complied with the recommendations of Directive 2010/63/EU of the European Parliament and the council of 22 September 2010 on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes, the Polish law of 15 January 2015 on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes (Dz.U.2015 poz. 266), and the good practices and recommendations of the National Ethics Committee for Animal Experiments and the Local Ethics Committee for Animal Experiments of Poznań University of Life Sciences. According to the Act on the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific or Educational Purposes in Poland (adopted on 15th January 2015), the presented studies did not require permission from the Local Ethical Commission for Investigations on Animals in Poznań.
