: In compliance with Directive 2010/63/EU, the study is exempt from ethical approval because the only animals used in the experimentation were specimens of Dermanyssus gallinae mites (Phylum: Arthropoda), invertebrates that are not regulated by the aforementioned Directive. The mites were collected from naturally infested hens, on which no operations were performed. The exemption has been certified by the Ethical Committee for Animal Experimentation of the Department of Veterinary Medicine (CESA-DiMeV) with the decision dated 16/10/2024. The written consent from the farmer for the collection and use of mites for scientific purposes was granted on 28/10/2024.
