: This study followed the international standards of the “Guide to the feeding, management and use of experimental animals” (8th edition), the “Regulations on the management of experimental animals” and the “Guidelines for Ethical Review of laboratory animal welfare (GB/T 35892 − 2018)”. Sample collection on farms was approved by the animal experimental ethics committee of Ningxia Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences (Yinchuan, China) and was under the requirements of the regulation for the collection of genetic resources (HJ 628–2011). Verbal informed consent for milk sample collection was obtained by researchers visiting farms and speaking directly with owners. Informed consent was obtained at each farm without any objections noted.
