: As stated in the methods section, all procedures were carried out according to Good Scientific Practice principles, as also approved by the Ethical Committee of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, with relevant ARRIVE guidelines and regulations. The samples were originally collected from dogs and cats that presented for surgical resection of a potential malignant mammary mass to perform routine histopathological diagnosis, determination of malignancy and to archive the sample for future consultation.
