: The study (reference CS001064) was approved by the MVH Clinical Studies Committee (formerly the MVH internal review board) and conducted in accordance with the local legislation and institutional requirements, as detailed in the protocol description (16). Informed consent was obtained from all the participants; owners received a full explanation of the study either via the MPB web site ( ) or from in-hospital information brochures. At the appointment there was the opportunity to ask questions of the veterinary staff before consent was given. During consent, owners were advised of their right to withdraw at any time without explanation, penalty, or influence on their pet’s veterinary care.
