Ethics approval and consent to participate: None of the pigs were killed with the purpose to fulfil the objectives of the present study. All the samples were routine byproducts of agricultural production and slaughtering activities, and no animal testing or human research was conducted. Permission and verbal consent were obtained from local government, farm managers, abattoirs managers, and pork vendors to collect pig fecal.
