: Mice were obtained from the Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, ME) and were maintained as an in-house breeding colony. All procedures adhered to the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) statement on the use of animals in ophthalmic and vision research and were approved by the Columbia University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. Animals were anesthetized via intraperitoneal injection of ketamine (90 mg/kg) and xylazine (10 mg/kg) and were euthanized using CO2 followed by cervical dislocation. The study was carried out in compliance with the ARRIVE guidelines.
