: The collection of trachea and nasal brushings and use of airway basal cells was approved by Institutional Review Board, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA (4407) and University of Michigan Ann Arbor, MI (HUM00052806). The donors had written consents to use their lungs for research if the lungs were rejected for transplantation. All the experiments with animals were approved by Institutional Animal Care and User Committee, Temple University (Protocol # 4904).
