: All experiments and animal procedures were carried out following the guidelines of the European Communities Council Directive on animal experiments EU Directive of 22 September 2010 laid down by the European Union Council Directive of 22 September 2010 (2010/63/EU). Animal procedures were revised and approved by the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) from the Center of Biomedical Research of La Rioja (CIBIR, Spain) (refs. 03/12 and 13/12), in accordance to the present legislation and recommendations on animal welfare and ethical principles. All animals were bred and maintained under specific pathogen-free (SPF) conditions in laminar flow caging at the CIBIR animal facility.
