: This retrospective study involved ARF patients enrolled in the Standardized Rehabilitation for ICU Patients with Acute Respiratory Failure clinical trial at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier, NCT00976833; registration date, 2009–09-11). : We developed a predictive model using a Bayesian framework that incorporates seven key metabolite biomarkers to estimate future physical function in critically ill patients following hospital discharge. To support future clinical translation, a provisional patent application has been filed to secure intellectual property rights for this biomarker-based prediction method.
