Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study involves the use of patient data from The Spanish Centralized Hospital Discharge Database (CMBD) and the RENAVE. CMBD data are hosted by the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare (MSCBS in Spanish). RENAVE data are registered through the national reporting electronic platform (SiViEs in Spanish) and hosted by the National Centre of Epidemiology. Both datasets meets all legal and technical requirements concerning safe access and data protection. Formal ethical approval and individual consent is not required for routine surveillance activities in Spain.
