Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Medical Research Coordinating Committee of the National Institute for Medical Research in Tanzania (NIMR/HQ/R.8a/Vol.IX/2476) and the Institutional Review Board of Ifakara Health Institute IHI/IRB/EXT/No: 009-2018 approved the study protocol. Participation in this study was voluntary. Both oral and written consent were sought. Households and participants were recruited only if they willingly agreed to participate and returned a signed written consent form. Additionally, prior to starting the study, permission to carry out the study was obtained from the community leaders in the areas where the study was conducted. Long-lasting insecticide treated nets, i.e. the Olyset<sup>®</sup> nets were provided to all households participating in the transfluthrin-treated eave ribbons evaluations.
