: The study was approved by the ethics committees of the School of Public Health, Kinshasa University, DRC (Approval number: ESP/CE/042/2019) and the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University (Approval number: 190110208-2). Written informed consent was obtained from children’s parents/guardians and assent from children ≥ 7 years old were sought. The written informed consent document was provided either in French (official language) or Lingala (local language) depending on the parent’s educational background. All malaria positive cases from RDTs were treated according to national malaria diagnosis and treatment guidelines.
