: Ethical approval from Institutional Review Board (IRB) was obtained from the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria with approval no: <i>ERC/PAN/2019/07/1916</i> in addition to ethical approval from Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Ethics Committee (OxTREC Ref: 552–19). Prior to entering the research sites, permission to carry out the study was obtained from relevant community gate-keepers, and the respondents before commencement of the interview session. Before administration of the questionnaire, the nature, purpose and process of the study were explained to the participants after which informed written consent was obtained. Necessary steps were taken to ensure confidentiality. Participants were continuously reminded of their right to withdraw from the study at any time. After each session, the participants were consulted to ensure that study findings reflected their voices and perceptions.
