: The study protocol was reviewed and approved by Jimma University Institute of Health Institutional Review Board (IRB) (Ref. No IHRPJn/479). Permission was obtained from the local health authorities to conduct the demographic surveillance and parasitological mass blood survey. A written consent/ assent was also obtained from study participants and parents or guardians of children. Study participants who was malaria positive during the survey was linked to the nearby health facility to find appropriate treatment. Confidentiality of the study participant’s information were maintained.
