: Ethical approval was obtained from the institutional review board of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (N° 27,364) and the Ministry of Health in Benin (CNERS N° 53). Laboratory technicians gave written consent before participating in the qualitative survey. Approval for use of animals for mosquito feeding was obtained from the LSHTM Animal Welfare Ethics Review Board (Ref: 2020–01).
