The study was approved by the WHO Research Ethics Review Committee (ERC 0003264) the Oxford Tropical Research Ethics Committee (OxTREC Ref 511-30), and the KEMRI Scientific and Ethics Review Unit (KEMRI/SERU/CGMR-C/251/4464). Approval was also provided by the Kwale County Health management Team.
