: The study protocol was approved by the institutional commission of PMI-VectorLink. Ethical clearance for the study was obtained from the national ethics review committee of Côte d’Ivoire (N/Ref: 168–18/MSHP). This study also received approval from the health authorities of Sakassou district and permission from the local village chiefs. Community members were informed in detail on the objectives, procedures, potential risks and benefits related to the study. Permission was obtained from the heads of households of the houses selected for mosquito sampling. Participation was voluntary and all the collectors were trained on the specific mosquito collection methods prior to commencing the study. Volunteers for the HLC collection signed an informed consent form, and they were vaccinated against yellow fever and treated for any malaria infections according to the policy of the Ivorian NMCP. In addition, participants were offered the opportunity to receive free medication if they had any symptoms that might have been caused by a mosquito-borne disease.
