: The study was initiated after obtaining administrative approval from the Myanmar Ministry of Health, National Malaria Control Program, and the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative. Ethical approval was obtained from the Ethics Review Committee of the Department of Medical Research, the Institutional Review Boards of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Duke University. Individual written informed consent for those aged 18 years and above, written assent for minors aged 12–18 years, and verbal assent for minors aged less than 12 years with adult permission when appropriate, were sought for all index cases and contacts. Only those who were eligible and provided informed consent were enrolled in the study.
