: Ethical approval was sought from the University of KwaZulu-Natal Bio-Medical Research Ethics Committee [BREC/00001594/2020] and the Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe [MRCZ/A/2637]. Gatekeeper permission was sought from the Provincial Medical Director (PMD) for Mashonaland East. Written parental/guardian consent was obtained for all study participants. Additional written consent was obtained from each participant to draw blood for RDT and microscopy examination. Individuals who tested positive for malaria were offered treatment for malaria on-site.
