Ethical approval was obtained in each country Tanzania certificate NIMR/HQ/R.8a/Vol.IX/4558; Côte d’Ivoire certificate N/Réf: 081–22/MSHPCMU/CNESVS-km. All sleepers were male, aged ≥ 18 years, were medically supervised throughout the study [ ], were offered malaria prophylaxis per local guidance, and were screened weekly for malaria parasites. No infections were detected during the two trials.
