Ethics approval and consent to participate: The study analysed the secondary data drawn from Demographic Health Survey (DHS) which had already obtained ethical clearance from Mozambique National Bureau of Statistics (Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE)) for data collection. In addition, before participating in the survey all respondents were requested for a written informed consent to participate in the survey as per the Helsinki declaration. Therefore, this study did not need another ethical clearance. However, permission to access the database was requested from the DHS program.
