Ethics approval and consent to participate: The study was approved by the Vector Control Division Research and Ethics Committee (VCDREC/120) and the Uganda National Council of Science and Technology (HS618ES). Written informed consent was obtained from patients, and in the case of children below eight years, parent/guardian before any study-specific procedures were done. Consent documents were available in the local language. For children aged eight years and above assent was sought in addition to the consent of the child’s parent/guardian.
