Declarations
:
: This study received ethical approval from the Institutional Research Ethics Committee (Ref no: ILRI-IREC2019-15) at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation of Kenya (Ref: No. NACOSTI/P/19/72940/31932). The informed consent form was read to the participants in Samburu, the local language, due to the high rates of illiteracy in the study region. Participants then had the opportunity to read the consent form themselves and ask questions. If the participants agree to participate, they indicated their consent orally and signed the digital form. Consenting participants were then asked to consent for the participation of their child to also participate in the study. For this as well, oral consent was taken and recoded by the enumerator by selecting an option on the digital form. (Please see Supplementary Material 2).
