: Community leaders conducted the census, informed parents about immunization at the meetings, mobilized parents to attend the fixed-site sessions, and helped nurses track defaulters. On the day of each vaccination session, parents received an orientation session that included information about the diseases prevented, the benefits of getting, and possible side effects after vaccination. Each child was examined by one of us to ensure no contraindications to vaccination. The pilot results were successfully used to advocate international donors for funding to expand the vaccination program.
