: In accordance with Helsinki guidelines, informed written consent was obtained from adult patients and the caregivers of the children participating in this study. The study was approved by the Tayside Medical Ethics Committee and the King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust LEC (REC number 09/H0808/15).All animal care and experimental procedures complied with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, and were approved by the University of Surrey Animal Ethics Committee. Animals received humane care and experiments were designed to minimise the number of animals used.
