: Ethics approval for the PACKMAN trial was granted by the West of Scotland Research Ethics Committee (REC number 16/LO/0349) on 01/09/2020. The study was conducted in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and Good Clinical Practice guidelines. Patients were screened by attending paramedics, and verbal assent to participation was obtained prior to randomisation. Written informed consent was subsequently obtained by trained research paramedics, either during the patient’s hospital stay or following discharge from hospital.
