: Research involving human biological material - smooth muscle cells isolated from atherosclerotic plaque were obtained from patients who underwent carotid endarterectomies. Studies with human samples were approved by the Ethical Committee of the Central Clinical Hospital Ministry of Internal Affairs (2017/114). Written informed consent was obtained from all patients.
