Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The 46-year follow-up was approved by the Ethical Committee of the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District in Oulu, Finland (94/2011) and the study was performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. The Data Protection Ombudsman of Finland has reviewed the NFBC study, the ethical committee of Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District has approved the study and the permission from the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health was obtained for the use of register data and patient records. Informed consent has been obtained from each participant. The participants have a right to refuse to participate or withdraw their consent later without announcing reason. All participants have been willing to participate in the study and have granted permission for the use of their information in unidentifiable format for the purposes of scientific research.
