: This study was carried out in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, and written informed consent was obtained from all study participants. Serum samples from patients with breast cancer were obtained from the Institutional Biobank (UNI EN ISO 9001:2015-certified) of the IRCCS Istituto Tumori “Giovanni Paolo II” of Bari, Italy. The procedures involving animals were performed in accordance with the ethical standards, the Declaration of Helsinki and national guidelines, approved by the ethical committee of Animal Welfare Office of Italian Work Ministry and conformed to the legal mandates and Italian guidelines for the care and maintenance of laboratory animals.
