: This experiment was conducted in the SPF barrier facility of the Jilin University Laboratory Animal Center under the supervision of the Jilin University Animal Ethics and Welfare Committee (IACUC), in accordance with institutional and national guidelines for the ethics and welfare of experimental animals. Wistar rats and Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) rats (NBRP rat No. 0011) were purchased from the School of Medicine, Kyoto University, Japan, and housed in the Animal Service Center of Jilin University in SPF-class animal facilities. Housing and husbandry complied with GB 14925, and animals had free access to food and water. All experiments were approved by the Laboratory Animal Committee of Jilin University in 2019 (project title: “Study on the mechanism of retinal degeneration cells protection by GAP-43-modified BMSCs”, license number KT201903043).
