Declarations
:
: Adipose tissue samples were obtained during elective abdominoplasty procedures performed at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Medical University of Innsbruck. The tissue is considered biological waste material, and no additional procedures or risks were imposed on the participants for research purposes. Basic clinical blood lipid parameters were collected as part of routine diagnostic procedures and analyzed in a retrospective, pseudonymized manner without direct patient contact. All data and samples were handled in accordance with institutional and national guidelines on human biological material. Consent declaration: All patients have signed informed consent for using their clinical data. The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the Ethics Committee of the Medical University of Innsbruck (approval number: AN2014-0244 341/4.5 388/5.5). In accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki (2024), we confirm that ethical principles regarding the use of human material and data were fully respected. Since this is a non-interventional study using pseudonymized, retrospective data and surgical waste tissue, it does not constitute medical research involving human participants in the sense of clinical trials and was therefore not subject to mandatory registration in a public trial database. This study follows the recommendations of the STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology) statement for cross-sectional studies.
