Ethics approval and consent to participate: Brain sections from PFA-fixed, OCT-embedded human HIE brain tissue were used in this study. De-identified human tissue was collected from the Autopsy Service in the Department of Pathology at UCSF, with previous patient consent in strict observance of the legal and institutional ethical regulations.All animal procedures were performed according to the guidelines of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at UCSF and Shantou University Medical College.
