: The study protocol was approved by the Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe (reference number: MRCZ/B/1732) and the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town, (reference number: HREC REF:778/2018). Administrative approval for the study was obtained from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, AIDS, and TB Programme and from the Provincial and District Directorates. Informed written consent was obtained from health care providers and all pregnant women living with HIV who participated in the prospective interviews for this study. Data was deidentified during abstraction and anonymously analysed. No financial incentives were provided to the study participants.
