: Ethical approval with reference number ADM/DCST/HREC/APP/5027 was obtained from the Human Research and Ethics Committee (HREC) of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi-Araba. Management approvals to access the donor registers were also obtained from the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service (LSBTS), National Orthopaedic Hospital Igbobi, and General Hospital Mushin.
